Augusta, GA -
The new Cabela's Outpost store opened at the Village at Riverwatch Shoppes on Thursday, amid much excitement.
People lined up as early as 4:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in order to be first in line for the grand opening at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, but customers weren't the only excited ones.
Augusta leaders tell us that our city is already seeing the start of the store's economic impact. "Cabela's has already hired about 100 people," said Walter Sprouse, director of Economic Development for Richmond County. “It’s also going to help out Costco next door, and as a result of those two companies being located there -- then we just recently announced the outlet mall and the 14 screen theater that’s going to be there -- and then there’s other things we’ve been working with the developer on. So, that particular part of town is going to be a major shopping destination," Sprouse continued.
