Dramatic Rescue at Sea

Gulf Of Mexico -

A dramatic rescue off the coast of Texas after a man and his dog were found clinging to their capsized boat.

The coast guard came to their rescue in rough seas near the Gulf of Mexico.

Wet and cold, this man and his dog were on the way to rescue a friend in bad weather, when the storm got even worse. His boat flipped over, but he was able to call another friend who alerted the Coast Guard to the situation. They held tight to the hull of the flipped boat while being pounded by 4 foot waves and nearly 25 mile an hour winds while waiting for help.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Gerard Wynne is with the US Coast Guard:

"We got on scene, the dog was in pretty bad shape, clinging to him and the boat as well. The dog only had 3 legs and it would've been pretty tough for that thing to stay above water"

They were both helped to safety and are glad to be back on dry land!

And as for the other boat that needed help in the first place? Well, strong waves pushed the boat and its 7 passengers to shore.
