Warrants issued for deliveryman in Gates Four shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Cumberland County Sheriff's detectives have issued arrest warrants for the food deliveryman responsible for a shooting that happened Monday evening in the Gates Four area.

Gerald Hilton Lord, 48, of Fayetteville, will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing and assault by pointing a gun, in connection with Monday's altercation upon his release from Womack Army Medical Center, authorities said.

Lord is currently hospitalized for the injuries he sustained when the gun he was carrying discharged. 

Lord, who was employed by GoWaiter.com, had at one time been employed as a detention officer at the Cumberland County Detention Center. 

Between March and August 2013, Lord worked in the jail. He resigned and accepted a contracted position in Kuwait. Prior to that, he worked at Simmons Air Field on Fort Bragg, as well as Lockheed Martin.
