North Charleston Man Dies After Aiken County Crash

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton tells WJBF News Channel 6, a North Charleston man has died after a Monday morning crash in Aiken County.

Carlton says, 22-year-old Tyler J. Major, of Suffolk Street in North Charleston, was pronounced dead at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia  Monday night at 8:25 p.m.

The wreck happened early Monday morning at 5:27 a.m. near Perry, South Carolina.

Carlton tells us, Major was traveling south on Highway 389, at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the vehicle, overturned multiple times, and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle was a 1998 Lincoln. Major was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to Carlton.

Toxicology is pending.

This is the fourth traffic fatality in Aiken Countyof 2014.
