Each year, more than 2 million calls are received at Poison Centers nationwide.

It is alarming that unintentional poisoning is the 2nd leading cause of injury related deaths in the country, with motor vehicle traffic related deaths being number one for all age groups. (Unintentional poisoning is the leading cause of injury related deaths in individuals 25-64!)

The Palmetto Poison Center (PPC) received over 31,000 calls in 2013 from all counties in South Carolina. The Palmetto Poison Center invites the public to join them in observing National Poison Prevention Week, which begins on March 16th to raise awareness about this alarming trend.

For poison emergencies, call 1-800-222-1222.
