SOCASTEE, SC -

Horry County Police arrested Lorenzo Calles, 34, of Myrtle Beach Monday morning on charges of buggery and sodomy.

Calles of the 100 block of Tyner Street is accused of having sex with a dog.

The incident allegedly happened Sunday around 10:45 pm at a house in the 200 block of Tyner Street.

The owner of the dog heard the dog making noises and discovered the incident taking place.

"They heard one of their dogs whimpering as if it was hurt outside their residence," Horry County Police said in  a report. "They went outside to investigate, and they observed the suspect having vaginal intercourse with their youngest female blue nose pitbull."

The police report noted that the suspect was holding an "open can of beer" in one hand.

"Complainant advised that she asked the suspect what he was doing, and he replied 'I need to speak to your husband', and then fled the scene," police said in the report.

Calles was found around 12:30 am Monday in his house sleeping in his bedroom and was taken into custody.

"Suspect had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and was very unsteady on his feet," police said in a report. "Suspect's roommates tried to ask suspect in Spanish his side of the incident for (police) but suspect only shrugged when questioned and gave no statement."

Calles is currently at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.  No bail has been set yet.
