Raleigh man charged with manslaughter in 2013 beating death

RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Raleigh man has been charged withvoluntary manslaughter in connection with an assault in June 2013.

Elden Brill Perry, 52, is charged withvoluntary manslaughter in connection with the death of 50-year-old Bobby LeeDunn.

Police said Dunn was assaulted June29, 2013, in the 100 block of Idlewild Avenue. At the time, he was transportedto WakeMed, where he was treated for head injuries and subsequently released.

On July 10, Dunn returned to theWakeMed complaining of health concerns, and he died at the hospital later thatday.

Detectives with the Raleigh PoliceDepartment said Dunn had been involved in an altercation with Perry, resultingin Dunn's injuries.

After reviewing Dunn's autopsy, awarrant was issued charging Perry with voluntary manslaughter.

The charge was served on Perry at theWake County Detention Center, where he was in custody on unrelated charges.
