Augusta, GA - What's trending....
The carnival season is in full swing in brazil.
It's a week of feasts, parties and parades leading up to the final Tuesday before lent, a christian period of moderation and sacrifice.
and...in Rio De Janeiro....they know how to party. The director says each parade costs some 5 million dollars and takes months to prepare.

Closer to home....new orleans has a celebration of its own.
Thousands of people came out to celebrate the carnival season.
Floats filled with colors and a variety of themes filled the streets.
People danced to music and bands all in celebration of Mardi Gras.

The best films and actors received awards last night.
....and the worst of the bunch received honors too....with the Razzie Awards.
Will and Jaden smith each took home a gold spray-painted trophy for their performances in "After Earth."
Worst actress went to Tyler Perry for his cross-dressing character in "a madea christmas."
Kim Kardashian won for worst supporting actress for her role in tyler perry's "Temptation."
"Movie 43" won.....worst screenplay, worst director and worst picture.
Winners were decided by online votes from "golden raspberry award foundation" members.

In case you missed the oscars....big night for 12 years a Slave, Gravity and Dallas Buyer's club last night at the Academy Awards.
Matthew McConaughey winning best actor and his costar jared leto-- Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyer's Club.
12 years a slave taking best picture Lupita Nuyong'o named Best Supporting Actress.
Cate Blanchett took home Best Actress for Blue Jasmine.
