Jack the Radio wins Last Band Standing

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh's Jack the Radio beat out stiff competition to win the Last Band Standing Saturday night at Lincoln Theatre.

Four bands battled for a chance to open for Hall & Oates at this year's Band Together event benefiting the Communities In Schools of Durham and Wake counties. The Last Band Standing event, in its fourth year, raised more than $10,000 for the charities.

Jack the Radio took the stage following The Morning After and plowed into its hard edged bluesy-rock sound that won over the panel of judges in attendance.

Big Daddy Love packed the venue with fans, singing and dancing along with their country-esque sound.

Wilmington's Onward Soldiers took the show in a different direction with their alt rock sound with some bass lines that left your teeth rattling in your head.

Jack the Radio won $3,500 and now has the chance to open for Hall & Oates May 3 at Walnut Creek Pavilion.

WNCN's Page Crawford emceed the event.
