Box office behemoth "Frozen" has become a musical phenomenon, with the sensational hit "Let It Go" striking a chord with millions around the world.

The song has inspiring covers, heart melting renditions - and the powerhouse singer behind the vocals is Tony Award winning star Idina Menzel.

My son, for instance, sings 'Let It Go" back to me and I was messing up the words one day. I said, 'Walker, mom's messing up the words to "Let It Go"', and he said, 'did you say let it snow, let it snow?'" said Idina.

The "Frozen" soundtrack is such a success - it *iced* Beyoncé's new album out of the top spot on the Billboard charts.

"Why do you think this song has really resonated with girls?" we asked Idina. "Yeah, it's empowering. For me, I can totally understand how girls are gravitating to this song, it's about owning your own power. It's about owning who you are and celebrating what makes you fierce young girl," she answered. "And not caring what people think and finally relinquishing and being free," she added.

The film has earned two Academy Award nominations - including best original song with the exhilarating anthem set to take center stage.

"It's such a huge hit and you're singing it for the world to see at the Oscars, how awesome is that? Are you excited? Nervous?" we asked Idina. "It's awesome. This is a dream come true. I've watched many people I admire perform and just to be nominated and a part of it is really surreal for me, and I'm just having fun with it," she said.
