Augusta, GA -
High school students in the CSRA are getting ready for prom season, and a local law firm is looking to ease the cost of the pricey tradition for some young ladies in need.
Costs for the big event can reach more than $1000 when you factor in the dress, the limo, and other evening festivities, according to a 2013 survey.
Maxwell Law Firm in Aiken is hosting the Cinderella Project on Saturday. It’s a prom drive which provides those in need with everything they might need for the big night to make them look and feel beautiful.
“It’s very heartwarming,” said Patty Clarke of the Maxwell Law Firm. “They will try on the dresses, they come out and let us look at them in the dresses, and some of them…they’re so emotional, because other than this project, they wouldn’t be able to go to prom.”
Girls can come by with their school ID and pick out a dress, shoes, makeup and jewelry for their special night.
The group is still need of donations, especially dresses for girls sized 12 and over. They accept gently worn, clean, and modern formal dresses, as well as shoes, jewelry, evening bags/clutches, and unused makeup. Items can be dropped off at Maxwell Law Firm’s North Augusta or Aiken locations until Friday afternoon.
The dresses and additional items are given out on a first come, first serve basis. The line usually starts around 8:00 am.
