Another very busy day for Anna Beth Harbeson's students.
A day where technology is at the forefront.
"Today I was modeling how to find research on the Internet using S.C. Discus," she says. "This class really focuses on the research aspect of writing and getting information together to improve our writing."
Mrs. Harbeson runs the reading lab at Clearwater Elementary.
"We are trying to strengthen our writing," she says. "We are preparing our students for their future in education and we are focusing on the writing process and learning how to find information because that is what they are going to have to do in their careers and throughout their school."
Writing skills are more important now than ever especially with so many kids communicating through computers and smart phones.
"I try to model good writing to my students all the time. I try to be a good role model, and I try to help them separate text messages and emails from the classroom. We have academic writing and then less academic writing. So we like to focus on the academic part of writing in the writing lab."
And when she's not in here, she's out in the community. Anna Beth Harbeson is a dedicated volunteer. She recognizes the importance of things that take place after class is dismissed.
"I like to make an impact on the students life as a whole. I like to be a good role model and I feel like doing those extracurricular activities makes me a good role model and makes them better people."
