As Helms College continues to growas the first nationally accredited and Title IV-GI Bill eligible collegeoperated by any Goodwill in the world, a new sister institution has beencreated as the umbrella of the health science and aesthetic arts programs addedwith the August 2013 purchase of the former American ProfessionalInstitute.
Helms College encompassescertificate, diploma and degree-level culinary arts programs and futureeducational initiatives that are nationally accredited by the AccreditingCouncil for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).
The new Helms CareerInstitute will oversee the School of Health, with programs including medicalassistant, patient care technician, surgical technician, pharmacy technicianand massage therapy, while the School of Beauty includes programs in barbering,cosmetology, cosmetology instructor and nail tech. All of the programs arenationally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
Helms Career Institute programscurrently are offered at campuses in Macon and Milledgeville, with futureexpansion planned for other campuses within Goodwill's 35-county service areaincluding the CSRA.
Financial aid is available tostudents who qualify, including Federal Financial Aid Goodwill TuitionAssistance programs.
All programs currently areenrolling, with the next round of Helms College culinary classes starting April14. Open house will be held 10am to 2pm March 19, and 2-6 pm March 20,at the Helms College, Augusta Campus, 3145 Washington Road, at Fury's FerryRoad.
