As American Heart Month nears an end, local hospitals and physicians are continuing their push to get more people screened for heart disease and problems. Heart month is an initiative to prevent heart attacks in Americans.
Doctor's Hospital is stressing the importance of getting screenings. For three years, the hospital has been using this mobile unit to perform angio screenings and save lives.
Kathy Henderson of the Center For Occupational Medicine explains, "when the vascular tech scans your carotid arteries we can see right away if you have plaque there or not. At the same time he or she is doing that we're taking your blood pressure in all four extremities and looking at identifying folks who have high blood pressure who may be don't know it."
The mobile AngioScreen comes to industries and corporations and only takes 15 minutes. To schedule an appointment call the Center for Occupational Medicine at 706-651-4343.
