Augusta National Golf Club is giving back to the community - in a major way.

Club members announced Tuesday that they will donate $6 million over several years to help build a new Cancer Center at Georgia Regents University.

It's a huge gift, and one Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver says he's thankful for. "Looking at potentially bringing in $300 million in research funding, so once again, going towards the economic impact, it is huge. But, I think more so than anything, it's the way that it will impact the lives of my citizens, so I am greatly appreciative," Mayor Copenhaver says.

The gift will also help with the creation of a children's camp for patients at the Children's Hospital of Georgia, as well as other children from around the CSRA.

A June deadline has been set to raise the $56 million Dollars needed to build that cancer center.
