RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Jaguar women’s golf team jumped up two spots in the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic to take second place behind No. 8 Arkansas after GRU Augusta senior Casey Kennedy shot a 4-under 69 on Monday morning on the Rio Mar Country Club River course.
Shooting a 75 yesterday, Kennedy led the Jags in day two with a 69 to finish tied for ninth, while teammate Josefine Nyqvist tied for fifth after signing for a 3-under 70 to sit at 1-under 134 for the tournament. GRU’s Eunice Yi improved her day-one score by six strokes – signing for a 2-under 70 to remain 2-over (146) tied for 15th for the tourney. Jessica Haigwood shot a 78 to sit at 7-over (151) and Christine Duschek-Hansen carded her second 82 to stay 20-over at 164.
Purdue’s Aurora Kan shot a 5-under 68 to top the individual leaderboard with a 5-under 139. Arkansas held onto the number one spot with a 571 total score in the 15-team field that features seven teams ranked in Golfstat’s top 30. GRU Augusta sits second overall at 584, Northwestern is third with 591, Georgia placed fourth with 592, and Iowa State and NC State close out the top five with 594’s.
