Muriel Gouffray, with Aiken Electric Cooperative, says the continued extreme weather conditions are still a challenge for linemen and assisting crews.
Thousands of downed trees have caused more than 29,000 outages and hazardous road conditions.
With 1/2" accumulation of ice on power lines and tree limbs adding as much as 500 pounds of extra weight, conditions continue to be extremely dangerous.
In some areas, there is 3/4" on the limbs and power lines. Please be aware that trees and lines continue to fall and cause system outages.
It is also imperative that you do not go outside unless you have proper protection.
Under no circumstances should you approach a downed line as it could still be energized and cause fatal damage.
