Augusta, GA (WJBF) -- This week's WJBF Scholar Athlete Award winner nearly had to give up the athlete part. In 2010, Hephzibah's Josh Savage broke his leg in multiple places, and he faced a long and daunting road to recovery.
Savage had to undergo surgery and have two screws placed in his leg. After extensive rehab, Josh was able to come back and compete in basketball, track, and tennis. He did all this while still making the honor roll all four years of high school.
Savage plans to run cross country at Savannah College of Art & Design next year. He hopes to turn his passion for drawing into a career in graphic design.
