The GHSA made the following announcement regarding the start of the state basketball playoffs next week:
Due to the impending ice/snow storm moving into Georgia, the first round of the 2014 GHSA Basketball State Tournament will be held on Wednesday, February 19 (Girls) and Thursday, February 20 (Boys). The revision in the schedule will allow regions affected by the weather, to complete their region tournament on Monday, February 17. Additionally, regions will have the option to schedule teams (2) games in a single day, providing there is a 4-hour interval between the scheduling of the games.
We encourage regions to attempt to finish their tournaments by Saturday, February 15, but not at the slightest risk of safety to participants or spectators. Make sure that you keep your game officials informed of any schedule changes you make.
