District 13 Special Election: health care

Posted: Updated:
HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The lines are clearly drawn between the 13th Congressional District candidates when it comes to health care.

Attack ads criticize Democrat Alex Sink for supporting the Affordable Care Act, also known as "Obamacare".  Sink has said she supported the Act "imperfect though it was", and argues it is a big step forward to improving medical care.

Republican David Jolly has been unequivocal in his criticism of Obamacare, calling it a "government takeover" of 1/6th of the American economy, which will result in overwhelmingly negative consequences.

Libertarian candidate Lucas Overby says he favors the repeal of Obamacare; however, he acknowledges that some of the reforms enacted by the law are worth keeping.
