Let me say this just to break the ice -- its cold in east central Georgia!
"Wind chill factor down in the teens, there's ice. Yes, it's really cold," said Billie Howard, who lives in Emanuel County.
‘Stopping this cold, well the sun hasn't been standing tall, bring on summer.
"I like warm weather. Cold weather...we don't get along too well, but I deal with it," said Billie.
But, if you don't think ice is nice, then this should be the place -- Summertown, Georgia -- where residents will tell you it's always like summer.
"Alot of people will ask me, 'where you from?' I say, 'Summertown.' They say, 'is it always warm in Summertown?' I say, 'to me it is, it's always in the heart'," said Mary Kendrix.
Bernard Pettigrew and Jonathan Smith call Summertown home and spent Thursday night outside hunting, just another hazy lazy day in Summertown.
"Is it always warm in Summertown? we asked. "Most of the time," said Smith. "Is it right now?" we asked. "No sir, I got on ten pounds of clothes right now," said Smith.
"Actually, it feels good," said Pettigrew. "Because you're warm in Summertown?" we asked. "No, he's got ten pounds of clothes, I got on twenty," said Pettigrew.
It may be a cold winter day, but this is Summertown, and they'll tell you this on Humpback Street in Summertown...that even in January, it's like July.
At least on the inside...
"It's in the heart," said Kendrix. "But, it's cold outside," we said. "It's freezing. Don't get me wrong, it's freezing on the outside, but on the inside, I'm warm because I got long johns on and everything," said Kendrix.
It may be polar in Summertown, but here it's pool time...at least in their hearts.
