Augusta, GA (WJBF) -- It was an all-star game worth the wait. Storms on Saturday pushed the first Border Bowl back to Sunday, but thousands of fans still turned out, and they were treated to an entertaining all-star game featuring the best seniors in the area.

Team Georgia (coached by Lakeside's Jarrett Troxler) defeated Team South Carolina (coached by North Augusta's Dan Pippin) 24-10 in Border Bowl I, Sunday afternoon at Lucy C. Laney Memorial Stadium. The Border Bowl was presented by WJBF News Channel 6 and the Augusta Chronicle.

It was a defensive struggle for the most part, especially in the 2nd half. The first score of the game came from the Team Georgia defense. Lakeside's Kendall White recovered a fumble in the end zone in the first quarter. Team South Carolina came right back with a long touchdown pass from South Aiken's Bo Baldwin to North Augusta's Keyon West to tie the game at 7. West had 8 catches for 88 yards in the game. Later in the first quarter, Lakeside's Hunter Banks found Aquinas' Chris Lambert for a 23 yard touchdown to give Georgia a 14-7 lead. Those two would connect on another touchdown right before the half to give Team Georgia a 21-7 lead at the half. Lambert, who was a late addition to Team Georgia, had 5 catches for 82 yards a 2 TD's. It was all about the defense in the 2nd half as both teams were only able to get one field goal each. Team Georgia would hang on to win the game 24-10.
