Arrest Made In Thomson Bank Robbery

WJBF News Channel 6 has learned there has been an arrest made in a bank robbery that happened in Thomson Thursday afternoon.

We are told 35-year-old Tyrone Gibson, of Warrenton, Georgia has been arrested and charged with one count of Robbery after allegedly robbing Queensborough National Bank and Trust located at 549 West Hill Street, in Thomson.

Thomson Police Department officers responded to the bank a few minutes after noon Thursday after receiving a 911 call regarding a robbery.

Thomson Police requested the assistance of the GBI Thomson Office in the investigation which led to Gibson's arrest.

Gibson is being held at the McDuffie County Detention Center.

Investigators tell us, Gibson entered the bank and took an undisclosed amount of cash. After receiving a description of Gibson and his vehicle, officers with the Thomson Police Department and McDuffie County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle near the intersection of the Thomson Bypass and Augusta Highway and took Gibson into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing and upon completion will be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office.
