On Tuesday, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who was indicted in a deadly July 28th crash on Elm Road, in Richmond County.
Rodney L. Kelly, 25, of the 2900 Block of Ulm Road, has been indicted for Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree and Serious Injury by Vehicle.
Investigators say, on Sunday, July 28th, at approximately 6:24 p.m., Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies and traffic investigators responded to the 2900 block of Ulm Road, in reference to a motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the driver of a motorcycle lost control and struck two pedestrians and also struck a single vehicle.
Investigators say, Kelly was operating a blue Monte Carlo traveling north on Ulm Road, and 26-year-old Kyterian Andres Jones was operating a burgundy motorcycle traveling north on Ulm Road. Both men were reportedly engaged in illegal racing with each other when the motorcycle lost control causing the death of Jones, a Wrens Police Department officer, and Marcus Kelly, who was a bystander on the side of the roadway. Another bystander was seriously injured also.
