Man In Custody After Allegedly Firing At Deputy

A man is in custody after Richmond County authorities say he attempted to rob a store, then shot at a deputy.

Bobby Haynes is charged with armed robbery, using a gun during a crime, aggravated assault on a police officer, and having a gun as a convicted felon; these are all felony charges.

Richmond County authorities say that Haynes attempted to rob the AutoZone on Deans Bridge Road around 7 o'clock Saturday night.  After he pulled out a gun and demanded money, a deputy confronted Haynes.  Haynes shot at the deputy and fled the scene. 

He was taken into custody later Saturday night and is being held at the Richmond County Jail.

Haynes was also charged with robbery by force for a separate incident.

Richmond County authorities are searching for a man who they say attempted to rob a store then shot at and fled from a deputy.

They say Bobby Haynes went into the AutoZone on Deans Bridge Road around 7 o'clock, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the clerk.

A deputy, who was outside confronted Haynes; Haynes shot at the deputy who then fired back.

The deputy was not injured. Haynes then ran away.

There is a cash reward for any information that helps authorities lead to his arrest -- Haynes is considered armed and dangerous.
