Construction on Plant Vogtle Units 3 and 4 are ahead of schedule.
Local and state agencies got a chance to tour the plant Friday.
A Georgia Power spokesman says the nuclear units are the first to be built in the U.S. in 3 decades.
Most recently, crews finished Unit 4's basemat structural concrete.
Officials say the new facility is one of the largest job-producing projects in Georgia.
"Over the last few months, you've seen a lot of progess around both nuclear islands, so we're really excited about the economic development that the project brings to the local community and also the jobs that it brings here for the state of Georgia," says Georgia Power spokesman Brian Green.
The nuclear units will provide enough power and electricity to about 500,000 homes for more than 60 years.
