The Richmond County Sheriff's Office was busy Thursday afternoon informing residents about a surge of break-ins.
Officials say there were 30 burglaries this past weekend and many of them happened during the daytime and in south Augusta.
Deputies went door to door Thursday asking residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
"People are getting new stuff. Whether it's the packages before Christmas or it's right after Christmas, December is a tough month, so you just want to do everything you can in your power to make sure you're not the victim of the target," says Lieutenant Lewis Blanchard.
Officials suspect more than one person is responsible for this past weekend's surge. They say they do have a few cases going to catch the culprits.
