Columbus cleaners collecting Santa's Castle toys for Fort Benning children

Posted: Updated:
FORT BENNING, Ga. -

Many military families are in need of financial help this Christmas. Some of them are in our area and stationed at Fort Benning. Some are even currently deployed and fighting for your freedom. The Santa's Castle organization is working to make sure the children in those families have presents under the tree. Santa's Castles collects money and toys to help these families.

Several fundraisers are held during the year to make these donations happen. Now, they're in crunch time and still need some help from the community. Organizer Melissa Glasspole tells News 3 that there are indeed more soldiers who need help this year due to the economy. She says to help those who serve our country is overwhelming. Families in need select item from a toy bank where they can make sure it's age appropriate and desired by the child.

As an added incentive, Wade Cleaners is offering a discount to customers who donate toys to Santa's Castle this Christmas. If you donate a new, unwrapped toy at any Wade Cleaners location, you'll get 10% off your next cleaning bill.

Click here to find out how you can donate online to Santa's Castle or call (706) 685-4422.

Santa's Castle is run completely by volunteers and is a 501(c)(3) organization.
