A satandoff in Warrenville ended Tuesday night at 7:14 p.m. after a successful negotiation, according to a spokesperson with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

It all started when deputies were called out to the 100 block of Barrett Street in Warrenville around 3:44 p.m. Tuesday after dispatch received a 911 call for a domestic disturbance and suicidal threats.

After arriving at the home, the responding deputies were told that the suspect, 31-year-old Martin Chavez, had armed himself with several knives and threatened to harm himself. The spokesperson says, Chavez did make several threats to injury any law enforcement officer that he would come into contact with.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team and negotiators responded to the residence. Around 7:14 pm, Chavez was taken into custody after a successful negotiation. Chavez was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers for an evaluation.

He is facing possible charges in this case.

WJBF News Channel 6 has learned there is a currently a standoff taking place in Warrenville.

An Aiiken County Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us, officials are currently negotiating with a man armed with a knife on Barrett Street.

We are told the standoff stems from a domestic dispute between the man and his wife, and that the 911 call came in at 3:44 p.m. and the first deputy arrived on the scene at 3:48.

The man is allegedly threatening to harm himself and others.

Officers with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, SWAT, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are on the scene and Barrett Street is currently shut down.
