Greenville police to host first recruitment open house

Honesty, a commitment to community service and hard work – they're just a few qualities the Greenville Police Department looks for when recruiting new officers.

You can see if you've got what it takes this Saturday when the department hosts its first-ever Recruitment Open House.

Anyone can come hear a pep talk from Chief Hassan Aden, check out police vehicles, and talk with other officers about life on the job. Potential job candidates can also take a physical fitness test.

"We thought it would be a good opportunity to get some exposure to the police department,” says Kolenya Edwards, a recruiting officer with the police department.”And to bring people in that may not be 100 percent sure what they want to do, get them some information and maybe that will spark an interest and they'll actually pursue a career in law enforcement.”

The event is Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the police headquarters at 500 S. Greene St.

Light refreshments will be available. Plan to wear or bring workout attire if you are participating in the physical assessment. Feel free to RSVP by email at kedwards@greenvillenc.gov .
