Pirates to Play in Beef O’Brady’s Bowl

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

The East Carolina Pirates accepted an invitation to play in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game set for December 23 will kick off at 2:00 p.m.

East Carolina will meet Ohio University in the game.

"While it is an honor to compete in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl, the opportunity to take our team and Pirate Nation to the Tampa-St. Petersburg area will make this trip even more exciting," ECU Head Coach Ruffin McNeill said. "We're looking forward to the challenge of accomplishing a 10-win season, something that has only been done once in the history of our program, and allowing a special group of seniors a chance to play for a bowl championship."

East Carolina (9-3, 6-2 C-USA) will be making its seventh bowl appearance in the last eight years. The Pirates played in the Papajohns.com Bowl in 2006, the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl in 2007, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl after the 2008 and 2009 seasons, the Military Bowl in 2010 and the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl last December.
