Identical triplets stump parents and doctors

Posted: Updated:
QUINCY, CA -

A set of identical triplets just born in Quincy, CA are so rare doctors can't even say how rare they are.

At 10 days old, Abby, Laurel and Brin are hard to tell apart.  Hannah and Tom Hepner are already looking for those unique marking or traits.  The Hepner’s certainly weren’t expecting triplets.  Multiples don't run in either of their families and the couple wasn't using fertility drugs to try and conceive.

"Three sisters who are going to play all sorts of tricks on our town,” joked Tom.

"When we first found out, we just sort of laughed in that nervous way,” said Hannah.

For now, the couple says there aren't any other babies planned-- anytime soon the doctor says he hopes the triplets will be able to go home in just a few weeks
