A woman from Emanuel County has entered a guilty plea to the charge of Felony Murder in the death of her father.
According to Emanuel County Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens and Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney Hayward Altman, on Wednesday, December 4th Samantha Janes Scott entered the plea involving the death of her father, Kenneth Wiley Janes.
The plea was accepted by Chief Superior Court Judge Kathy S. Palmer. After Judge Palmer accepted the plea of guilty, Scott was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of thirty years to serve before the possibility of parole.
As part of the plea agreement, Scott will also testify against her husband, Randy Lee Scott, at his trial for the same charge in January.
After the plea hearing, D.A. Altman and Sheriff Stephens again expressed their appreciation to the investigators of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Emanuel County Sheriff's Office for the work they put in to the investigation of Janes' death.
Both of the Scotts were arrested back in March and accused of killing Janes. Click here to read our original story on their arrest.
