BAYBORO, N.C. - Two men charged with robbing a bank in Oriental made their first court appearance Friday.

23 year old Thomas Cuthbertson Jr. and 23 year old David King, both of New Bern are charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon in the December 2 armed robbery at the First Citizens Bank on Broad St.. The pair were already in custody on unrelated charges.

Because of their violent prior criminal records, the risk of flight, and their alleged part in a multi-state crime spree involving at least one other bank robbery, and the fact that they are alleged to be part of a multi-State crime spree involving at least one other bank robbery, the judge raised their bonds to $1 million each.

The two men are accused of entering the branch and demanding money from the employees at gun point. They fled the scene on foot with $30,000 in cash.

There were three employees and one customer inside the branch when the robbery occurred.
