A man who was hit with a liquor bottle last month has died nearly 2 weeks after the attack, authorities say.
Joseph Davis, age 39, died on Nov. 29 – 12 days -- after he was hit in the head with a gin bottle while at a home in Darlington, said Todd Hardee, Darlington County Coroner.
The incident happened on Nov. 17 at a mobile home park on North Main Street, officials said.
Police had already charged a man in the case when the attack first happened.
Tori Antonio James, 29, of Darlington surrendered to police late in the day after the attack, police said.
James was charged with assault and battery when Davis was in critical condition, said Sgt. Kimberly Nelson, Public Information Officer.
James surrendered to authorities again at 4 pm today after the charges against him were upgraded to manslaughter, Nelson said.
A judge later set bail for James at $30,000.
