Aiken County, SC -

An Aiken County Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells WJBF News Channel 6, an arrest has been made in connection to a fire that was ruled an arson last week.

A team from the Sheriff's Office and South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Fugitive Task Force, acting on a tip, arrested Dowell Clinton Fulmer at a home in the 300 block of Church Street in Clearwater Sunday evening.

Investigators say, the arrest team, with the consent and cooperation of the homeowner, entered the home where Dowell was found hiding in a back room. He was taken into custody without any incidents.

Dowell was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center where he was booked on his outstanding warrants for Burglary 1st degree, Arson 3rd degree, and the numerous Violations of an Order of Protection. Dowell's charges stem from a fire investigation on Friday, November 29th at 627 Gooseneck Road.

Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt stated, "This is the prime example of state and local law enforcement agencies cooperating together to bring fugitives to justice."
