Read the text of the press release we received Monday below:
The Board is pleased to report that Dr. Everitt received an overall very good performance evaluation. Improving student performance remains a top priority of the Board and District administration. The Board was especially pleased with the outstanding student achievement results and improved graduation rate during this past school year. The Board is aware that there must be continuous improvement in student achievement. However, we believe the administration and staff have put effective programs in place to assist our students and we are seeing the positive results.
We are also pleased with the significant efforts the administration has made to ensure effective communication is provided throughout the District and our community at large. We believe Dr. Everitt's high visibility throughout the District and the community continues to make her a valued asset to Aiken County. The budget work study sessions have been a helpful tool in providing information about the District's budget needs and priorities and provide a good level of detail and understanding, both to Board members and to the community.
The Board wishes to express publicly its appreciation for the efforts of Dr. Everitt and her staff, which have contributed significantly to the overall success of the District.
As a result of Dr. Everitt's overall very good evaluation, the Board voted during Public Session to extend Dr. Everitt's contract by one year, or through June 30, 2017.
