Augusta's city leaders asking questions about a new bus route to Fort Gordon.
The proposed route would take riders from Augusta Mall to the Post as a regular route...six days a week.
The private company operating the buses, McDonald Transit Associates, says the new route would cost taxpayers $320,000 a year.
Some Augusta Commissioners worry about finding money to pay for new route.
"Right now, it doesn't look like we've got the money budgeted and, again, we're still looking at a hole. This is something we can definitley look at in the future, if there is the need. We haven't seen those numbers just yet, so right now we don't have the funds for this today," says Commissioner Mary Davis.
City Administrator Fred Russell met with Fort Gordon officials Friday and is planning another meeting next month to discuss the proposal. He plans to report back to Commissioners with a recommendation in January.
