Man Accused Of Murdering Doctor Had Been In Trouble With The Law Before

Augusta, GA -

Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators are still trying to figure out why a local surgeon is dead.

Glenn Vincent Riggs II, 22, is behind bars charged with the murder of once-missing Doctor Charles Mann.

Investigators say Mann was murdered at Riggs' home on Dublin Drive, off Old McDuffie Road. Mann's body was later found about 8.5 miles away in Spirit Creek. That's off Willis Foreman Road near Diamond Lakes Regional Park.

Mann worked at the Barnwell County Hospital...working to better the health and lives of rural patients.

Many people have been asking questions about the motive to this murder.

Neighbors who know Riggs' say the charges, inculding simple battery and murder, against him are not far fetched...while people who knew Dr. Mann hope the case is closed soon.

"I never put a doubt in my mind that he wouldn't do something like this because if you can fight your own father, you can do anything to anyone else," says Bianca Willingham, Riggs' neighbor.

"I'll certainly just be thinking and praying for he and his family and other folks that might've been involved as well," says Nick Toole, of Barnwell.

Riggs is being held at the Richmond County Jail. Investigators have not released any other information, but we will share that when we know more.

We tracked down new details Monday that show Riggs had a previous record that included two misdemeanors of simple battery and criminal trespassing.
