It's been Alberta Gregory's address for sixty years...she's called Kennedy Drive home since 1953, and she's been thinking a lot about this Kennedy connection recently.
"Yeah, I thought about that when it first come on through the newscast. I said, 'my God, I live on Kennedy Drive'," she said
Kennedy Drive wasn't named for President John f. Kennedy. It had the name before that terrible day in Texas fifty years ago, a day many on Kennedy Drive still remember.
"I was in the fifth grade, Collins School off of Steed Street," said Calvin Williams
"I felt a little deadness in me, or something, and I was just a little bitty fellow. He must have been a powerful man," said Paul Sullivan, a Kennedy Drive resident.
"I was in Waynesboro, Georgia. Sure did, that was a sad day," said Gregory.
It may be small, but the folks here do have a connection to the slain President Kennedy. Every time they have given their address, they have said, say the word Kennedy. So, I would say after fifty years, there's still an interest in what happened in Dallas fifty years ago.
It's been debated for fifty years, did Oswald act alone or was it a conspiracy?
"That still remains to be seen, so I can't really comment on that part," said George Westley, who lives on Kennedy Drive.
"I give it a conspiracy," said Sullivan.
"You reckon it will ever come out?" asked Gregory.
"I would think, on Kennedy Drive, you would have some inside information on this," we said.
"If I had that information, it would have been on, it would have been on the news, been told it a long time ago," she answered.
Fifty years is a long time, but they'll never forget, here on Kennedy Drive.
