The "Save the A" group says it has nothing to be ashamed about.
As we reported Thursday, Augusta's presentation to Georgia Regents University (GRU) on the mills project by the city's consultant included a statement about the embarrassment of the "Save the A" campaign.
We caught up with Nick Evans, who was the chairman of "Save the A" and he says the statement in the presentation is disappointing.
"If it was an embarrassment to our elected officials, or this consultant is saying that 'Save the A' was an embarrassment. They should be embarrassed that they have just insulted about 90 percent of the Augusta community," said Nick Evans, the chairman of "Save The A".
Evans says "Save the A" only opposed the name Georgia Regents University, and says the group fully supported the merging of the two schools and future expansion.
