WJBF News Channel 6 has learned a McCormick County Sheriff's Office deputy was dragged by a suspect's car Wednesday night.
According to Major W. Willis, of the McCormick County Sheriff's Office, Wednesday night, at approximately 7:25 p.m., an deputy responded to loud music coming from a vehicle at the AM/PM Convenience Store in McCormick. The officer confronted the driver and noticed an open container.
The driver reportedly put the car in reverse, pinning the deputy to the car and dragging him about 10 feet. The driver then reportedly fled the scene. Maj. Willis says the deputy sustained minor injuries. The driver fled the scene.
The driver was later identified as 31-year-old Jason Marcel Gilchrest. Warrants have been issued for his arrest.
