Promoter Says Major Artists Are Coming To Columbia County

Columbia County, GA -

Some nationally known artists are coming to town for two concerts later this month. Promoters say the Atlanta Rhythm Section will headline night one of the Holiday Rock and Country Fest at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Friday, November 22nd, then on Saturday the 23rd, Orleans and Juice Newton will take the stage.

The event is being organized by Turn On Your Radio Music Park, a company that was started by Charles Collins. Collins says there will be two more concerts at the fairgrounds in December.

"We're planning those right now and we already have entertainers lined up for that as well. They are locked in. I won't mention those until we do this event first," Collins says.

Earlier this year, Collins planned to have several concerts in South Augusta, but those concerts never happened. At the time, Collins said he wanted to turn the property at Phinizy Road and Peach Orchard Road into an amphitheater, but that didn't happen either.

Collins says this time around, the concerts are definitely going to happen. We called Columbia County officials to see if that was true, and they tell us that Collins has an agreement to use the fairgrounds over the next several weeks.

"Well, it's big enough to handle a large crowd, so we would like for a large crowd to attend our event so we can show everybody what the future of Turn On Your Radio Music Park is going to be like and how we are going to address everything," Collins says.

As for the future, Collins still wants to build that amphitheater.

"We are in the development right now and we are looking for 100 acres to 200 acres. And we are going to create a new amphitheater that would hold 100,000 people," Collins says.

And he says this project will happen because he is working with investors and attorneys this time around.

"I truly believe that this company will be set up properly and legally," Collins' Attorney Chung Lee says.

"If we need to grow with more money, it's no problem now, so we are going to move forward with this thing," Collins says.

Tickets are $35 if you buy them in advance, or $50 at the gate.
