COLUMBIA, S.C.- Renovations are nearly complete at the South Carolina boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson.

Officials with the Historic Columbia Foundation are briefing the media Monday on renovations to the home in downtown Columbia. The group is also planning to announce when the home will reopen for visitors.

The property has been closed to the public since 2005 for repairs and renovations. The foundation had initially hoped it would reopen by Veterans Day 2011.

Foundation officials say the renovated property will feature exhibits, period vignettes and interactive components.

Wilson was the nation's 28th president. He spent four years in the Columbia home built by his parents in 1872. His father was a minister and taught at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Columbia.

Before moving to Columbia, Wilson spent the formative years of his childhood living in Augusta, GA.
