Michael Wha was shot and killed when he tried to force his way into a neighbor's home following a domestic disturbance.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -
Fayetteville Police say a man was shot and killed after he forced his way into a neighbor's house.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at 1212 Braybrooke Place shortly before midnight Saturday. While responding to that call, they learned that Michael Wha, 21, had gone to his neighbor's home and forced open the front door.
The homeowner was armed with a handgun and opened fire when Wha broke in.
Police say Wha was involved in a domestic dispute with his mother at their home.
Witnesses say his mother ran into the street calling for help, when a neighbor heard the calls and said she would call 911.
The neighbor then returned to her home and locked her door. Witnesses say that's when Wha went to the neighbor's house and tried to force his way into the home.
The neighbor's husband shot Wha when he gained entry, witnesses said.
Police were continuing their investigation Sunday.
