Augusta has a champion on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.
As we told you Thursday, Augusta businessman Jim Hull was named by Governor Nathan Deal to the university decision making board.
And for Mayor Deke Copenhaver, Hull is an excellent choice, because he shares the Mayor's vision for Sibley and King Mills becoming part of GRU.
"The master planning process will start taking place the beginning of next year to include looking at the mills district, so I'm very excited," says Mayor Copenhaver.
And, as that planning process goes on and will need to be approved by the Regents, Hull is on record as a big supporter of the project.
"There's a mills champion on the Board of Regents now," we said to the Mayor. "Well, there's somebody who's very familiar to how we got to this point, why were looking in that direction. I think that will definitely help us," says Copenhaver.
