WJBF News Channel 6 has learned Harlem Middle School is without water.
Harlem City Manager Jason Rizner tells us city workers were exercising a valve on a water main Tuesday afternoon and it eventually broke.
Rizner says crews do not know how long it will take to repair the water main break. He says they were hoping it would only take a couple of hours, but there is a gas line they're working around, so they're delayed a bit.
Students and teachers were sent to the gym when they arrived at school Wednesday morning.
Water was brought in from various sources, including Coca-Cola, which donated alot of water.
Custodians are manning the bathrooms to make sure they stay clean.
The lunch menu has changed, and sandwiches are being served. Lunchroom workers are following sanitation guidelines. The total number of homes and businesses affected is not known at this time.
We will continue to follow this story and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
