A vigil was held Saturday for the Dawson, Georgia mayor who was shot in what police are calling an attempted armed robbery.
Twenty-three-year-old Christopher Wright is still undergoing multiple surgeries at the hospital. He was shot at home last Thursday night. The Dawson community is asking for prayers and hoping Wright makes a full recovery.
"Chris wasn't just shot, the entire community was shot," Morgan Gardner said.
Dozens of people united as one Saturday evening, lit candles and prayed for their city's leader.
"He's still my man of steel, my Clark Kent, my mayor, my nephew," said Wallace Johnson, Wright's uncle.
No suspect have been named in the shooting.
Dawson is the seat of Terrell County, located about 150 miles south of Atlanta, near Albany.
