8th Annual Lights for Lydia Dec. 7th

Posted: Updated:

The 8th Annual Lights for Lydia is taking place Saturday, December 7th.

Luminaries will be lit across the community that night in honor of women battling cancer, or in memory of loved ones lost to the disease.

Luminary kits are on sale throughout the month of November across the CSRA. Each kit will contain enough candles, sand, and white craft bags to light ten luminaries. Kits cost $10.

Lights for Lydia is a premier fundraiser for the Lydia Project.

The community-wide event generates funds that keep Lydia's services free. The newest service opened this year, The Lydia House. Women coming to Augusta for specialized cancer care can stay at the house for free while they get their treatments.

Lydia's outreach is to women coping with any type of cancer worldwide.

Lydia's services are free and include hand-sewn tote bags, prayer circles, and on-going outreach every month for at least twelve months.

Lydia also assists women in the CSRA, who are fighting cancer and struggling financially, with rent, utility, and prescriptions.

To purchase luminary kits or for more information about the Lights fundraiser or Lydia's mission, call (706) 736-5467 or visit the agency's website at thelydiaproject.org.
