Hundreds of art works on display at Raleigh Convention Center

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Raleigh Convention Center will be the center of a huge art convention this weekend when the World of Art Showcase runs Friday through Sunday.

The event, which begins Friday at 11 a.m., will include more than 80 international artists, 12 North Carolina artists and more than 1,000 works of art.

This is the inaugural event for the World of Art Showcase.

Here's a schedule for the event:

Friday:

* Open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

* Guest Speaker Crista Cloutier, entrepreneurial art expert: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

* Artist Talks and Demonstrations: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday

* Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

* Artspace Exhibitors and Collectors Reception: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

* Guest Speaker Crista Cloutier: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

* Artist Talks and Demonstrations: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

* Artspace Exhibitors and Collectors Reception open to VIP ticket holders: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.          

Sunday

* Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

* Guest Speaker Crista Cloutier: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

* Artist Talks and Demonstrations: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

* Commencement Reception: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
